Social Fund

bulletNAWRA has raised concerns about the proposed reform of the Social Fund contained in the Welfare Reform Bill.  The following concerns were raised with Kitty Ussher, MP:
bulletThe powers to contract out to external providers who would then set their own terms and conditions.
bulletThe proposal to offer goods and services as an alternative to a cash award.
bulletThe loss of the right of review in both of the cases above.

The response from Kitty Ussher MP can be viewed by clicking here (PDF format).

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

bulletNAWRA wants to hear about the way that 'pathways' contracts are being handled and client experiences.  You can send your comments to your regional committee representative (see 'Committee' link on the left of this page).
bulletCPAG now have information on their website about ESA, including a guide to the benefit and analysis of the benefits rates.  www.cpag.org.uk/esa/esa.htm
